Iced Yerba Mate Latte

A refreshing drink to help relieve fatigue and help you energize.

Serves 1

  • ¼ cup of water
  • 2 Tbsp Yerba Mate
  • 2 tsp agave nectar
  • ½ cup Almond milk

Boil 1/4 cup of water in a measuring cup on either the stove or in a microwave, then add in the 2 tablespoons of Yerba Mate. The goal in this step is to make a strong of a shot of Yerba Mate as possible. Let the tea steep for 3 to 5 minutes (depending on how strong you want it to be), then strain the mixture with either a metal strainer or a coffee filter into a temperature-safe glass.

Add your sweetener during this step, in order to ensure that it is properly dissolved. Agave nectar is the healthiest option, and provides the best flavor complement to the Mate.

Add ice to the cup, ensuring that it cools down the hot Yerba Mate. Add enough ice to properly cool the beverage, but leave room for the milk in the next step. Some of the ice should melt during this step, though the Mate should be strong enough to still provide a solid flavour.

Finally, add in a half cup of  almond milk. Add in more ice, if necessary, to top off the glass. You can either present the drink in its current layered and separated form, or you can mix the drink to create a solid light green color. And there you have it! Enjoy your iced Yerba Mate Latte!
